Where is Hurricane Katrina when we need her?

The New Orleans system of education has emerged from the destruction of Hurricane Katrina as one of the best in the country.  Although Hurricane Katrina was a terrible tragedy, the emergence of quality educational opportunitiews for the at-risk student, in particular is an ironic legacy of the monster storm.

Maybe that is what we need to reform Michigan's system of education.

Energy and World Peace

While the US presence in the Middle East is a function of many things, support for Israel and the oil economy, it is clear that we are in an awful positioncalling for drastic actions.
The first drastic action should be controlled, but expanded by 50%, is oil and gas drilling.  Advanced technology, including similar circuitry that goes into your average Environmentalist's IPad, has opened up new vistas of energy recovery.  So let's use them.
The second drastic action will be to relocate the nation of Israel to Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  Since the Israeli nation has proven it can make a productive paradise in the midst of nature's most brutal condition, the desert, they'll have the UP popping in no time.

Trayvon

I have never seen such a sullying of a tragedy as the most recent events in Sanford, Florida.  As usual, when there is a race issue, those shadows overhead are the Reverend Jesse "Hymie" Jackson and Reverend Al Tawana Sharpton.  Between those two, othe race profiteers, and the media, a rare event is about to occur for all to see.  George Zimmerman, the suspect, is a Hispanic.  You see his photo and he certainly appears Hispanic.  By another week or so, the race buzzards and their fawning media friends will have performed a miracle.  They will turn George Zimmerman, a Hispanic, into a white guy!!!

A Profitable Business--in our time!

After several interviews with gun shop owners, I have concluded all of them love the Democratic Party in general, and Barach Obama, in particular.  It seems like they have enjoyed some of the most profitable years in the history of their businesses since 2008.

You can see many conservative slogan bumperstickers, but you can also see thir stores are bustling with activity--in bad times.

What and whom do we fear the most?

The Coming Jobs War

If there are people actually reading this everyday, then you owe it to yourselves to read Jim Clifton's book, The Coming Jobs War.  Clifton is with Gallup and has piled up the concepts on how America can win the coming jobs war.  With government, things are always a whole lot more complicated, but if we could, NOT SPEND A DIME, and reduce our health care expenditures on obesity, our government debt and financial crisis would be distant memories.
People like to say, "well if we weren't wasting money in all those wars, we would have enough money for health care."
WRONG!!  We already spend ten times the war dollars on obesity.  Like the War on Drugs and the War on Poverty, we'll lose the war on obesity if we follow the same old recipe of moving money around to fund bad habits.

Yeah! Right!

Mitt Romney's statement that, if elected Preesident, the first thing he will do is repeal Obamacare sounds woefully like Barach Obama's declaration that the first thing he would do, if elected President, is close Guantanamo.

Sweet Sandra

Sandra Fluke, the activist Pelosi puppet, showed up at a hearing and whined that she can't afford the $3,000 she needs to service her contraception costs. Here we go--an activist babe making the conscious decision to spend her money at a Jesuit run private Catholic University (that is $60k a year for all you concerned 99%ers).  I agree that Rush Limbaugh used inappropriate language in characterizing the young lady.  Not that that language is anything new, hmmm, Bill Maher?  It is just typical, however, that working people and retirees like me should be expected to foot the bill for Ms. Fluke's widespread sexual escapades--after all, $3,000 in contraception costs says she is a mighty busy body.

The late Christopher Hitchens on Michael Moore

The laugh here is on the polished, sophisticated Europeans.  They think Americans are fat, vulgar, greedy, stupid, ambitious, and ignorant and so on.  And they've taken as their own, as their representative American, someone who actually embodies all those qualities.

More Long Green

I have written many times that economic development is a fed ridden business and profession.  In my own time, I have lived through robotics, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and now, "Green Jobs".
I knew "Green Jobs" had arrived as a credible fad when a slightly inebriated, giggling venture capitalist said to me: "Somebody is going to make a lot of money on this."  When money weighs in on behalf of the fad, it is "game on" whether the fad and associated technology are appropriate, necessary, or not.
I am and have always been an outdoors person  and a sensible environmentalist, but that shouldn't confuse me with prevailing environmental thinking oer whatever it is.  For example, many people with whom I speak say Barach Obama has been good for the environment.  I think a President who is intent on filling the Great Lakes with Asian Carp and wind turbines should be highly suspect in any pro environment category.
